Fostering the Future of Lifestyle Medicine: Welcoming Our NUS Capstone Partner

The Singaporean Society of Lifestyle Medicine (SGLM) is pleased to announce a new collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS) Master’s Programme in Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine, reinforcing our commitment to advancing both education and clinical application in the field.

As part of this partnership, SGLM is proud to support postgraduate capstone projects aimed at expanding the reach and impact of lifestyle-based interventions in Singapore. Through structured mentorship and access to our clinical and community networks, we continue to serve as an educational and scientific anchor for healthcare professionals across disciplines.

Spotlight: SGLM X NUS Capstone Student Collaboration - Ng Qing Xiang

NUS Master's Programme student Ng Qing Xiang for SGLM capstone project.

Two months ago, SGLM welcomed Ng Qing Xiang, a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician, as our capstone partner for the programme. Driven by a desire to deepen her clinical practice, Qing Xiang sought to bridge her foundation in traditional medicine with a western, evidence-based understanding of lifestyle interventions. Her journey reflects a growing recognition within healthcare of the value in integrating diverse therapeutic frameworks to achieve more holistic patient outcomes.

Qing Xiang has been working closely with our Executive Board, under the mentorship of SGLM President Dr. Miina Öhman. Through this experience, she has gained exposure not only to structured project guidance, but also to SGLM’s broader ecosystem, from professional networks to community outreach initiatives such as our “Walk with a Doc” programme. These platforms have provided meaningful opportunities for her to engage with like-minded practitioners and better understand the practical application of lifestyle medicine in real-world settings.

This partnership highlights our mission to make the six pillars of lifestyle medicine a standard in clinical practice for sustainable healthcare in Singapore. We look forward to sharing updates on Qing Xiang’s capstone research throughout the year.

We look forward to sharing further updates from Qing Xiang’s capstone project as her research progresses throughout the year, and to continuing our efforts in nurturing the next generation of lifestyle medicine practitioners. 19 May 2026
